Mom spilled hamburger on the rug. Paddington is now convinced that the rug is made of burger. He hasn't yet learned the trick. You don't get under mom's feeling WHILE she's cooking. You weave in and out of her feet when she's done cooking and carrying the plate of food.
In my house if I get underfoot while someone is cooking I usually get pushed out of the way. But sometimes I get cheese so it's totally worth it!
